Special Relativity and Quantum Mechanics are two particularly succesfull theories of modern
physics. Studying these subjects is nowadays considered part of the essential training of any young physicist.
Using other words, Special Relativity and Quantum Mechanics form the foundations of moderm physics.
Research in these fundamental subjects is very exciting, although quite often controversial and attracting
very little, or no funding at all. Nonetheless it is of the utmost importance that the foundations of modern
physics be exposed to a constant ctritics, as major leaps in physics have always come from revision of basic
